Logitech QuickCam Fusion Camera

Installation and Configuration for Video Conferencing through the Polycom PVX Application

  • Unpack the Logitech QuickCam camera and install CD
  • DO NOT plug the camera into your computer yet, but you may position the camera on top of your monitor/display bending the flexible base to stabilize the camera.
  • Log into the computer with an Administrator account.  If you are not sure what an Administrator account is, please contact your local technical service provider.
  • Close any open applications or windows
  • Insert the QuickCam CD into the computer's CD-ROM
  • Double click on My Computer then the letter which corresponds to the CD drive where the QuickCam CD was just placed
  • The Logitech QuickCam Installation window should open:

  • Disregard item # 4 regarding disabling anti-virus and spyware software
  • Choose the Typical installation and click Next
  • A window stating that Logitech will check for a newer version of the software should appear.  Click Ok.
  • If an update is available, click on Ok to download it; if an update is not available, click on Ok to continue.
  • The QuickCam Installation window will proceed to step 2.  Read through the license agreement, and if you agree to it, click on "I accept the terms in the license agreement."  Then click on Next.
  • The Logitech Desktop messenger window will appear.  Click on "I do not want to activate this service"; then, click on Next.
  • The software installation will then begin.  The installation process will take a few minutes.
  • Once the software installation is complete, you should be prompted to set up your camera.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.  After connecting your camera to a USB port on your computer, a message in the camera setup window will flash while the installation is being completed:

  • Once the setup of the camera is complete, you should see an image of yourself in the camera setup window.  You should be able to see yourself moving in the window.
  • Click Next.
  • A window stating the installation and setup is complete should appear.  Click Finish.
  • Once Finish is clicked, a new window, the Logitech Audio Tuning Wizard, should appear.  Click Next.
  • The communications microphone should default to the camera's built-in microphone, Logitech Mic (Fusion), and the communications speakers will vary depending upon your computer's hardware.  The default should be fine.

  • Click Next
  • Follow the on-screen instructions; then click Next.

  • The configuration of the audio tuning will then be complete; Click Finish.
  • A window stating that "the camera has detected the need for RightLight Technology.  Would you like to apply it?" may appear.  If it does, click "Always use RightLight Technology" and click Continue.
  • Your camera is then ready for use.
  • Proceed to the installation of the Polycom PVX application.
