This guide is a checklist of required tasks that is divided into four sections.
1. Configure security and backup options
- Setting your login password
Reason: Complies with Cornell policy and secures your data.
- Configuring a secure internet connection
Reason: Ensures your wireless Internet traffic is secure.
- Backing up your files
Reason: Allows your computer's data to be recovered in the event of a crash.
- IP Printing
Reason: Allows you to print from anywhere in the building.
2. Install Cornell-essential software

- Antivirus

- Microsoft Office
Reason: Cornell-standard software for documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
