7/24/2007 - On Sunday, August 5th, from 5am to 2pm, many central computing services will be unavailable due to a system upgrade.
Affected services include (but are not limited to):
* E-mail services, including Eudora, Thunderbird, WebMail, and uPortal.Cornell E-mail (all mail will be delivered when outage is over)

* Directory services (including Electronic Directory, LDAP, and Who I Am)

* Course sites hosted on Instruct1
* Course Technologies web hosting

Cornell's main site (www.cornell.edu) is expected to be available during this outage, with the exception of some features, such as the event calendar.
You should be able to access the Internet and Cornell online services that are not affected by the outage. CIT expects that ResNet, RedRover, building networks, EZ-Remote, Express Lane, Kerberos, and CUWebLogin will all be available.
This outage is necessary so that CIT can upgrade the switches in its server room.
7/13/2007 - On Saturday, July 14th, from 9pm until 9am the following morning, the Oracle Calendar Server will be down for maintenance. Users will be unable to access their calendars while the server is down. Other services impacted by this downtime include wireless synchronization of PDA and SmartPhone devices using SyncML, Consilient2 and NotifyLink wireless services.
7/3/2007 - Beware of postcard spam! An increasing number of "You have received a postcard!" spam emails are getting through CIT's spam filters. Please use extra caution with any unsolicited email. This strain attempts to take over your computer using a variety of attacks. When in doubt, delete the email, even if you recognize the sender. Contact the sender directly, and if it's legitimate, the email can be sent again. For additional information, please see the technical details.
