Irit Tamir is the Advocacy Manager for Oxfam America's Private Sector Department and is the policy lead for Oxfam's Behind the Brands campaign. She works with companies to ensure that their business practices result in positive social and environmental impaces for vulnerable communities throughout the world. Ms. Tamir has been working on issues of human rights, corporate accountability and public policy for the past 20 years and has contributed to several standard setting initiatives. She has conducted field research in Asia, Africa and S. America and is the coauther of the Oxfam America's Community Voice in Human Rights Impact Assessments and Human Rights Impact Assessment, State of Fear: Human rights abuses in North Carolina's tobacco industry and Weeding Out Abuses, Recommendations for a law-abiding farm labor system. Ms. Tamir is an attornye with a masters in international law. As a devoted activist she also writes about business and human rights issues on Oxfam's Politics of Poverty blog.
