Official Transcripts and Academic Records

Official Transcripts

An "official transcript" comes from the Office of the University Registrar. It contains notations of grades for all courses completed, giving course titles and numbers, semester and cumulative averages, semesters completed, etc. Graduate schools and academic programs usually require an official transcript.

Academic Records

An "academic record" for an ILR student may be requested from the ILR Office of Student Services, 101 Ives Hall, ilr_oss@cornell.edu or students may view their academic record at the following secured website: https://creditsummary.ilr.cornell.edu/studentCS/regentry.php. Please check each of the following areas:  Credit Summary, Summary of Requirements, Course History and Semester Summary.  You can also cut and paste the page with Course History.  You should always request a copy of your official transcript to have the most up to date transcripts from the University Registrar's Office in B7 Day Hall in person or via their website at:  http://registrar.sas.cornell.edu/Student/trascripts.html.

The academic record does not list courses by title, only by number. It does record grades, credit hours, and semesters completed, but for some purposes may not be as useful as an official transcript. Often, when recruiters or other offices on campus ask for a transcript, a copy of an academic record from OSS will be sufficient. If they want a full record, listing course titles as well as grades and averages, then your request should be taken to the University Registrar in Day Hall.
