The NYS Paid Family Leave Act goes into effect on January 1, 2018; it applies to private companies with one or more employees and provides job-protected paid leave for workers when a new child enters the family, or to care for a seriously ill or injured family member. The Act defines parents as biological, LGBTQ, adoptive, and foster, and uses a broad definition of family members who may need care. Most employees in NYS will be covered.
Join our panelists to learn how the PFLA interacts with the related federal and local laws, including the ADA, FMLA, NYC Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and Workers' Compensation. The program will provide information on what management and worker advocates need to know to effectively advise and represent their clients.
