"Boardwalk Empire," "Gotham," "Orange is the New Black," "Unforgettable," "Catfish," "The View" -- Atticus DeProspo '15 has visited the sets of some of television's hottest shows as part of his summer internship with the Directors Guild of America.

DeProspo assists union field representatives in making sure contracts are enforced on job sites, helps with negotiation preparations for collective bargaining agreements and sits in on arbitrations.

He also researches production companies that hire non-union workers "to see how we can ensure workers are being fairly compensated holistically and how we can unionize that specific area to protect the workers."

The union covers directors, production managers, stage managers and other workers in the film and television industry.

The summer internship is a change of pace for DeProspo, who wears number 23 as a Cornell Men's Soccer player, and who founded Cornell's chapter of Athlete Ally. The non-profit organization helps sports communities become more inclusive of LGBT athletes.
