Join Us on an Exciting Service Adventure to Rwanda!
The Cornell Public Service Center is partnering with Stephen Paletta, Cornell Alumni, social entrepreneur and winner of the television hit, Oprah's Big Give, to create a service-learning trip of a lifetime to Rwanda.
Students will travel to Rwanda in June 2009 and spend three weeks working with Paletta's non-profit organization, the International Education Exchange. Students will attend seminars and workshops focusing on Rwandan history, culture and climate; community movements and organizing; educational methodologies; and service-learning essentials during the Spring 2009 semester prior to working in Rwanda.
Students will work in Rwanda as partners in a "Teacher Training" initiative as well as contribute to infrastructure development projects including building libraries and art centers for schools devastated by the decades of genocide that plagued Rwanda.

The International Education Exchange (IEE) mission is to partner schools in the U.S. with schools in developing countries and prepare the next generation for the global community. The IEE is also dedicated to improving the Rwandan public school system in sustainable ways for a generation of children devastated by the 1994 genocide. The IEE helps rebuild the public school facilities that were destroyed and neglected during the civil war and the genocide.
