John H. Bishop, an economist, is a professor at Cornell University's ILR School. A member of ILR's Human Resource Studies Department, Professor Bishop has published articles on areas including:

  • peer culture of secondary school students
  • tax credits to expand employment
  • education reform
  • impact of education quality on productivity of individuals and nations
  • impact of business hiring policies on incentives for students to study and for schools to set high standards
  • determinants of and payoffs to employer training.

After graduating from Oberlin College, Bishop served in the Peace Corps in Nigeria.  He studied economics at the University of Michigan, where he earned a master's degree and a Ph.D. degree.  Vita and additional information available at http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/directory/jhb5/.
