Highlights from ILR - June 2010

Disability Policy Forum events led by ILR's Employment and Disability Institute are held regularly in Washington, D.C., to raise policy awareness and to encourage informed public participation in disability debates. In collaboration with the American Association of People with Disabilities, the forum is sponsored by the Cornell University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Employment Policy for Persons with Disabilities funded by the U.S. Department of Education National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.

Laura Hertzog, director of ILR's Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Program, discussed developing boards of directors in an interview on BlogTalkRadio. The segment can be heard online.

ILR research on electronic medical record technology in nursing homes was discussed on WHCU by David Lipsky, director of the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution.  Hear the podcast.

ILR's McKelvey-Grant Professor Samuel Bacharach will be a keynote speaker at the President’s Council of Cornell Women "Celebrating Women in Leadership" 20th anniversary event and annual meeting this weekend on campus.  Bacharach, director of the Institute for Workplace Studies and the Smithers Institute, will discuss leadership.

"Arbitration Advocacy: The Law and Practice of Labor and Employment Arbitration," a four-credit course offered by the Cornell Law School and the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution, will be offered June 28 to July 17.  It will be held in the ILR Conference Center in Manhattan.  More information is available at http://www.sce.cornell.edu/arbitration or by contacting Rocco Scanza at rms43@cornell.edu.
