Jay W. Waks '68 is the winner of the 2007 Groat Award and Paul Cole is the winner of the 2007 Alpern Award. The Groat and Alpern Awards will be presented in New York City at the Grand Hyatt on Thursday, March 29, 2007. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this special evening as we celebrate Jay's and Paul's contributions to the ILR School and the University, and their success in their chosen fields.
The Judge William B. Groat Alumni Award was established to honor a distinguished graduate who has demonstrated outstanding service and support to the School, and it recognizes those whose career accomplishments have been primarily within the field of industrial and labor relations. The Jerome Alpern Award was established to honor a distinguished alumnus who has demonstrated outstanding service and support to the School, and it recognizes those whose career accomplishments have been primarily outside the field of industrial and labor relations. In 2004, the Advisory Council and Alumni Association voted to amend the requirements to include friends of ILR who are not alumni of either ILR or Cornell but who have given outstanding service to the ILR School.
