EDI awarded $5.5 million grant

October 31 2006

The Employment & Disability Institute (EDI) in the ILR School is pleased to announce the award of a $5.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).

This five-year award will enable the Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center--Northeast (DBTAC) to continue their work of the past decade. The DBTAC-Northeast (previously known as the Northeast ADA & IT Center) is one of ten regional centers serving states and territories in the U.S. This grant will allow us to continue our mission of increasing knowledge and implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act through training, information dissemination and technical assistance within the Northeast region.

The addition of a research component to NIDRR's priorities for this funding creates an exciting opportunity. Under new leadership, the DBTAC-Northeast team will strive to develop and conduct research, rooted in practice, with the ultimate goal of improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities in America.
