ILR Professors Win Awards for Dissertations

Lisa NishiiOn May 5th, 2006, Lisa Nishii, ILR Assistant Professor of Human Resource Studies, presented her dissertation at the 21st Annual Conference for the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) in Dallas, Texas. Last year, Professor Nishii's dissertation won the competition for the S. Rains Wallace Dissertation Award from SIOP for the best dissertation completed in the field. The title of her dissertation is "The psychology of strategic human resource management: The effects of employee attributions of HR practices on employee attitudes, behaviors, and customer satisfaction." Professor Nishii joined ILR in Fall 2003. Her areas of expertise include discrimination, diversity and inclusion, expatriates, fair employment practices, HR management, inclusive organizations, and international and comparative workplace studies. John HausknechtJohn Hausknecht, also an Assistant Professor in Human Resource Studies, won the same dissertation award in 2005 and presented his dissertation at the 20th Annual SIOP conference in Los Angeles, CA. His dissertation is titled, "Narrative review, meta-analysis, and qualitative field study of applicant reactions to selection procedures." Professor Hausknecht joined the ILR faculty in July 2005. His areas of expertise include human resources, motivation, organizations, staffing and selection, and employee retention.
