Mark Brossman '75, Robert Molofsky '72, and Rubén King-Shaw '83 honored for outstanding achievement
The Groat & Alpern Awards will be presented during ILR Celebration 2008 in New York City at the Grand Hyatt on Thursday, March 27, 2008. These awards represent the highest honor given by the School to ILR alumni and friends for their outstanding professional achievement and contributions to the ILR School.
The co-recipients of the Honorable Judge William B. Groat Alumni Award are Mark Brossman '75, and Robert Molofsky '72. Rubén King-Shaw '83 will receive the Jerome Alpern Award.

Mark Brossman is a partner in the New York office of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP and is co-chair of the Employment Benefits Department. He is the lead counsel with respect to all aspects of employment law and employee benefits law, including ERISA, employment discrimination, labor relations, education law and related litigation. Mark received his BS in 1975 and his J.D. and LL.M. in Labor Law from New York University School of Law in 1978 and 1981 respectively. Mark is a member of the Advisory Council and led the way for a major gift from the Carpentry Industry Promotion Fund. He regularly has ILR interns at his law firm.
Robert Molofsky is Vice-President/Special Counsel of the AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation, where he manages the marketing for the $2.8 billion AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust. For 25 years he worked at the 180,000 member International Amalgamated Transit Union, as legislative/political director (1981-1996) and general counsel (1996-2006). Robert received his B.S. in 1972, and his J.D. in 1977 from American University, Washington College of Law. In 1999 he was selected as a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Robert has served two terms on the ILR School Advisory Council and is an adjunct professor of the School, teaching Congressional procedure and public policy for ILR interns in Washington, D.C.; served several times as the D.C. Chapter Chair of the ILR Alumni Association; hosted chapter events; and has been an important part of the ILR School's credit internship program.
Rubén King-Shaw is Chairman and CEO of Mansa Equity Partners, Inc., private equity investors whose portfolio includes several healthcare companies. He serves on numerous corporate boards in the health insurance, finance and technology sectors. Rubén was recently appointed to the NYS Commission on Facilities for the 21st Century, a broad based, non-partisan panel examining the needs and capacities of the health care system. He has served as a senior advisor to President George W. Bush and Treasury Secretary John W. Snow on domestic economic issues, including commercial insurance market reform and health care tax credits. Rubén was also COO and deputy administrator for the US Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) until 2003. Rubén currently serves on the ILR Advisory Council and the University Council. In addition, he has established an endowment fund to support the dean's diversity priorities and has served as a mentor for several ILR students.
