Distinguished professors from England study economics and strategic leadership
The ILR School welcomes two new Visiting Fellows, arriving Feb 4.
Andrew Oswald is Professor of Economics at Warwick University in England. His current research focuses on happiness and health. He has won various awards for earlier work on labor economics and macroeconomics, including Princeton University's Lester Prize for the book, The Wage Curve.
Oswald will give a lecture on "Happiness for Labor Economists" at the LE department workshop on February 11, 4:15 - 5:30 PM, 115 Ives.
Amanda Goodall is currently an ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellow at Warwick University. Her PhD is a study of strategic leadership. It draws upon a mixture of statistical analysis and interviews with university presidents. It will be published as a book by Princeton University Press in Spring 2009.
Goodall will present "Qualified to Lead? Why Research Universities Should be Led by Top Scholars" at the ILR Labor Economics Workshop on February 25. The workshop meets 4:15 - 5:30 PM in room 115, Ives Hall.
Both Oswald and Goodall will be at ILR through mid-June. Their faculty sponsor is ILR Professor Ronald Ehrenberg, Director of the Cornell Higher Education Research Institute (CHERI). Francine Blau, ILR’s Frances Perkins Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Labor Economics, played a major role in bringing the fellows to the School.
