ILR Hosts Event to Discuss Key Issues Affecting Latino Workers

Speaker at event"Debating Key Issues Affecting Latino Workers: Immigration, Union Organizing, and Politics" was the topic of discussion at an event held at ILR's New York City Office on 16 East 34th Street on December 9.  The event is part of an on-going series of public policy forums that bring together area union officials and staff for a thoughtful and provocative discussion around key issues affecting today's organized labor.  The December 9th event was jointly sponsored by ILR's Labor Programs in New York City and the New York City Labor Council for Latin American Advancement.

Santiago, Field Services Director, District Council 1707 – AFSCME / NYC; Minerva Solla, Vice President, New Organizing Division, 1199 SEIU United Health Care Workers-East / NY.

The next event is January 27 on the topic of "Wealth, Labor and Democracy in the Age of Globalization" featuring a presentation by scholar and social commentator Michael Parenti.
