The purpose of the “New Conversations” project is promote dialogue between multiple stakeholders in order to find pathways to more sustainable labor practices in global supply chains, particularly in the garment sector. As many experts have noted, after 20 years of working to improve working conditions and enforcing labor standards in global garment supply chains, the results are mixed at best. A plethora of research has noted the shortcomings in the variety of approaches (both private and government led) to improve labor standards in global garment value chains. In this project, we aim to promote new conversations amongst multiple stakeholders, anchored by research on innovative practices that will promote sustainability.
