Public Sector Management Certificate

This one-of-a-kind certificate is designed for mid- and upper-mid-level managers employed by New York State and the counties, cities and towns thereof. It is especially useful for technical people who have been promoted to supervisory or managerial positions. The focus is on issues that are unique to public sector management, such as providing deliverables consisting of services or compliance verification, working directly or indirectly for political stakeholders, managing in a unionized environment, and having limited access to resources. Other aspects of the curriculum cover concerns and issues common to managers in workplaces no matter what the sector.

A total of 72 units (seven core workshops and one to three electives) must be completed in order to earn this certificate.
