This workshop focuses on the causes of poor indoor air quality (IAQ) and approaches it from a problem-solving perspective. You will deal with the fundamentals of the indoor air environment in non-industrial settings (such as offices, schools, banks), including the sources of the probĀ­lem, the typical health symptoms related to poor-quality air, and how occupants and building materials can be affected. The sources of indoor air contaminants are illustrated with case histories that put the problem into perspective and demonstrate the correctable nature of this problem. You will cover:

  • The basics of conducting an IAQ investigation
  • Important investigative tools including surveys of building inhabitants and the correlation of air-monitoring results
  • Regulations and recommendations on the indoor environment
  • Public relations and labor relations aspects to assist building owners and managers in dealing with perceptions and fears in building occupants
