Recent studies have shown that public sector managers have more restricted access to resources than do their private sector counterparts. Moreover, to access these resources they often need to work with governing bodies, constituents, elected officials, and other department heads who have a stake in the outcome.

Successfully navigating through this requires analysis and one or more effectively executed strategies. Using case studies and examples from public administration, history, and political science, this workshop will focus on working pragmatically, constructively, and strategically with people and groups. If you work with elected officials, legislative bodies, other departments or other managers and supervisors to access the resources and support of others to implement initiatives, policy changes, and other requirements, this workshop will help you to:

  • Develop workable goals and objectives
  • Accurately assess what resources you can access
  • Identify customers, stakeholders and constituents
