FALL 2009
LexisNexis Congressional Record Permanent Digital Collection. Click on "Congressional Record Only" tab. LexisNexis is digitizing the bound Congressional Record and its three predecessors. These four titles, the Congressional Record (1873-to date), the Annals of Congress (1789-1824), the Register of Debates (1824-1837), and the Congressional Globe (1833-1873) cover all the concerns of the day, provide researchers with a unique perspective on American history, and are considered key primary resources for research in American history, public policy, business and economics, politics, international relations, and the law. NOTE: this is a work in progress with a estimated completion date by 2010.

IBISWorld. Extensive collection of detailed Industry Market Reports. Mostly for the United States, but we have access to the China module.
Proquest Historical Annual Reports [Click on 'Connect to Full Text' link]. This database offers corporate annual reports for U.S. companies from 1884 to the present. Key data (financial, Fortune 500 ranking, industry classification, key people, geographic location, auditor, and related companies) are indexed in the citation and can be searched in addition to general full text searching. Reports can be browsed by company name, industry or date. This product may also be searched simultaneously with Cornell’s other subscribed-to historical periodical databases (e.g. Historical New York Times and Historical Wall Street Journal).
Work Organisation, Labour and Globalisation. This relatively new journal aims to bring together insights from many disciplines to create a single authoritative source of information on the new global division of labour, combining theoretical analysis with the results of empirical research in a way that is accessible both to the research community and to policy makers.
CCH Training Tools in PowerPoint. This is an add-on to the CCH Internet Research Network. Click on the "Human Resources Management" tab, and find it under the "Tools" section. There are pre-packaged HR training courses on a variety of topics, including ADA Compliance, Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, Family and Medical Leave, Interviewing, Violence in the Workplace Prevention and more.
CCH State and Federal Employment Law Compare Complete. This is an add-on to the CCH Internet Research Network. Click on the "Labor and Employment Law" tab, and find it under the "Employment Practices Library" section. Provides summaries of state and federal employment laws, regulations and executive orders, as well as the full text of those laws and regulations. Choose from one of dozen’s of topics and then instantly compare multiple states’ laws on that subject in a convenient chart format. You decide how many and which states you wish to compare. Results may be displayed in a matrix and may also be exported.
National Technical Reports Library (NTRL). [trial access this semester] Click on "Search NTRL Collection". The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers access to these authenticated government technical reports to libraries and technical information users."

International encyclopaedia for labour law and industrial relations. This online version of the 36 -volume looseleaf features country overviews of over 60 countries, English translations of the important labor and industrial relations laws of over 20 nations, and covers individual as well as collective labor relations.
BNA's Employment Discrimination Verdicts and Settlements. This searchable database contains thousands of employment discrimination verdicts, settlements, and awards since January 1996. Click on the "Search All Issues" button to see the search options.
The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics Online. This second edition, edited by Steven N. Durlauf and Lawrence E. Blume, contains over 1,850 articles by more than 1,500 of the world's leading economists.
SocINDEX with Full Text. Contains nearly two million records covering 5000 journals, and it is updated weekly. Full text is provided for more than 400 journals dating back to 1908, as well as over 700 books, with the full text of nearly 7000 conference papers. The file also includes 10,000-plus author profiles for the most cited/searched authors, a nearly 20,000-term thesaurus, and abstracts for about 900 journals dating back to 1895. Searchable cited references are available for some titles selectively.
Sage ereference collection. A database of 47 reference books published by SAGE covering the social sciences and education, including such areas as African American studies, aged & gerontology, anthropology, communication and media studies, criminology and criminal justice, economics, education, gender & sexuality studies, history, politics, psychology, social issues, social work & social policy, and sociology.
China Data Online (expanded coverage). Comprehensive database Web site focusing on economic statistics of China, arranged by regions and categories. Includes monthly and yearly reports on China’s macroeconomic development, statistical databases about China’s population and economy at the county and city level, and financial indicators of more than 568 industrial branches. Also includes statistical yearbooks, census data, industrial and marketing surveys, and an atlas of China.
Uniworld. Includes searchable versions of two unique multinational business contact directories -- American Firms Operating in Foreign Countries and Foreign Firms Operating in the United States.
Applied Science & Business Periodicals Retrospective (1913-1983). Search a single resource for articles on events, issues and trends in the history of business and industry. Contains the complete content of Industrial Arts Index (1913-1957), Applied Science & Technology Index (1958-1983), and Business Periodicals Index (1958-1983).
