Labor and Employment Law Program

I am proud to present the initial set of workshops that comprise the Labor and Employment Law Cornerstone Series for Lawyers. This series, part of the ILR School’s Labor and Employment Law Program, is designed to meet the educational and skill building needs of both new and experienced attorneys. The Labor and Employment Law Cornerstone Series offers intensive, interactive training in specific areas of labor and employment law. Sessions are taught by some of the most prominent specialists in their respective fields.

Using real life fact patterns, lawyers will apply the law, argue cases, and practice advising clients. When Dean Harry Katz asked us to put together a program that would meet the needs of labor and employment lawyers and policy makers, I thought about how, since the founding of the ILR School in 1945, there has been a dramatic increase in legal regulation of the employment relationship. As a result, we have seen a corresponding increase in cases before administrative agencies and before the courts. As the law continues to evolve and the workplace changes, we will offer programs that help attorneys meet the challenges of advising clients and litigating cases.

I am pleased that ILR is expanding its outreach mission to include members of the legal community. I look forward to working with you to meet your needs to learn, stay current, and sharpen your skills. Please feel free to call me at 212-340-2865 (e-mail: erb4@cornell.edu) if I can be of assistance in any way.
