Cornell Labor Programs

This advanced steward training focuses on writing and presenting grievances. This tools-building workshop emphasizes effective grievance writing and settling grievances at the lowest step in the grievance procedure. It assumes a basic knowledge of the rights and roles of a steward.

Participants will learn how to settle disputes in the workplace and gives practical tools to help resolve conflict. Participants will write grievances and present their arguments in mock practice sessions and role plays.

Art Wheaton is an industry education specialist based at the Cornell-ILR office in Buffalo. A former AFSCME union steward and local union executive board member, Art has 11 years experience as a labor educator teaching collective bargaining, negotiations and conflict resolution for unions.
