Online Workshops

Cornell Labor Leadership Skills training is designed for current and future union officers and staff. Participants completing six different workshops receive a Labor Leadership Skills certificate from Cornell ILR. These skills-based online sessions help deepen the knowledge needed to build and re-build strong and effective organizations. Online workshops are of three weeks duration based on 3.3 hours per week for a total of 10 contact hours (1.0 CEU). These online workshops require access to the internet and email.

Format:
Online workshops are based on 3.3 hours per week for three weeks for a total of 10 hours online. The online workshops are available 24 hours a day for 21 days. To receive the certificate successful completion of six different online non-credit workshops is required.

1 CEU is offered for one three-week online program participation.

Fee:
$300 per workshop
10% discount for union locals sending 3 or more)

LB512 - Strategic Action Planning (May 1-21, 2012)

This is a practical, how-to workshop to give union activists additional skills for political action.  Two guest instructors from the United Steel Workers and United Auto Workers provide labor and political action expertise.  Exercises are used throughout the workshop to improve skills and tactics.  This workshop will focus on how to manage political action activities for labor unions.

 

LB407 - Advanced Negotiation Skills (September 10-30, 2012)

 This three week online workshop is designed to help bargaining committee members understand the process and strategies for negotiating a contract.  Participants will conduct mock bargaining sessions and role plays and will learn from union leaders from across the country.  Some familiarity with collective bargaining is not required but will be helpful.
