Healthy organizations change in response to the challenges in their environment. Sometimes that means being open to making structural and process changes in your union or organization. Strategic alliances between unions, partnerships, mergers, and internal restructuring of locals, departments, or staffs, are all examples of restructuring challenges faced by unions.
Cornell has a proven track record of assisting organizations in thinking through the benefits and costs of restructuring, designing a plan for restructuring, and then helping build the unity and capacity needed to make restructuring work. We also conduct research on restructuring, which has yielded fact-based materials to help guide a restructuring process.
