Long Zhang, postdoctoral fellow

Cornell April 2015-January 2016

Long is a statistician and data scientist who works on machine learning and statistical disclosure limitation. He came to Cornell from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Department of Statistics where he completed his Ph.D. in December 2014. He worked with NCRN PIs John Abowd and Lars Vilhuber on the NSF-funded project (TC: Large​), working on the interface between economics, computer science, and statistics to develop disclosure avoidance methods appropriate for complex economic microdata.

Chien-Hung (Joseph) Chien Assistant Director, Analytical Services Branch, Methodology and Data Management Division, Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Joseph Chien is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Statistics at the Australian National University. He has worked for the ABS Methodology Division responsible for data integration, access and confidentiality methodology. Before joining the division, he spent three years in the Economics Directorate at the OECD working on global macro simulation models. His research is analyzing complex labour market dynamics to better understand the micro drivers of productivity. He hopes that his research will shed new insights on productivity drivers and help the Australian public service make better use administrative data. (October 19-23, 2015)
