The Glass Ceiling: Realities for Asian Women in New York City

Monday, June 13, 2005: 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Asian Women in Business (AWIB) will hold a panel discussion on the status of Asian Women in Corporate America and the issues they grapple while seeking growth and leadership roles in their companies. The event will offer our growing network of corporate women a chance to hear from leading Asian women executives. Even though Asian women are among the highest qualified educationally, their representation in decision making and leadership roles is alarmingly disproportionate. Many cite the lack of mentors and peer networks, the persistence of negative stereotypes and not being included in diversity programs. Several glass ceilinged women leave the corporate world to start their own businesses. The event will include a networking session and book signing by author and AWIB Member Jane Hyun who recently released 'Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling: Career Strategies for Asians'.
