Background & Previous Experience: Santanu Sarkar is Associate Professor in HRM area at XLRI School of Business & Human Resources (India). Before joining XLRI, he was working as Associate Professor at the School of Mgmt and Lab Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (India). He was a Visiting Fellow at York Mgmt School, Univ of York (U.K.) & Dept. of Mgmt Sciences & Decision Making, Tamkang Univ (Taiwan) and Visiting Professor at Dept. of Int. Business, Shih Chien Univ (Taiwan) in 2009.

His research interests include cross-cultural issues in employee relations, trade union behavior and independent labor movement. He has published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Mgmt, Journal of World Business, Int. Journal of Manpower, Asian Business & Mgmt, Int. Journal of Information & Mgmt Sciences, Journal of Human Values.

Current Research at ILR: During his stay at the ILR, he is working on a research project where he will identify and compare the cultural determinants of employees' attitudes towards unions in the US and India and global unions.
