Mireia Valverde is currently an Associate Professor in human resource management at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV, Reus, Tarragona, Spain). She has previously worked at other universities in Ireland and Spain, researching and lecturing in HRM, OB, management skills and research methods at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level. Her university education is from Spain (Universitat de Barcelona & URV), Ireland (University of Limerick) and the UK (Cranfield University). She has been the Assistant head and Head of the Department of Business Management at URV, which employs more than 140 teaching staff. She is the main researcher of the research group Human Factor, Organizations and Markets, which has recently received official status by the Catalan Government.
Mireia is a member of the research group representing Spain on the Global Call Center Project which is coordinated by Rosemary Batt (Cornell University). She is currently leading a research project financed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (ECO2010-17638: SERENSAT) on the relationship between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction in the context of the call center industry. During this research visit, Mireia is planning to forward this project, to complete two manuscripts on this topic applied to the call center and the tourist sectors, as well as to meet with leading scholars in CU in common areas of interest.
Her research interests include the study of different agents involved in the HR function (middle and top management, the HR department, HR outsourcing service providers), the management of technology-mediated organizations (especially call centers), HR management in service organizations, and the interface between the HR and Marketing functions.
