Travel to Ithaca
There is a local airport in Ithaca called Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (Airport code: ITH), and it is about 10 minutes away from the Cornell campus. Depending on your time of arrival, you can opt to take a bus, taxi, or rent a car from the airport to get you to your destination. Most flights to Ithaca require a stop in an international airport like JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), or Newark (EWR).
Taxi-cabs are available in Ithaca, please see the website for details on pricing or you can reach them by calling 1-888-321-1149. The taxis run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, some taxis do take credit card, however, we suggest you carry cash for your ride, just in case.
There are many different buses that run in and out of Ithaca. To get in and out of Ithaca to other nearby cities like Syracuse (about 1 hour away) or New York City (about 4 to 5 hours away) there are many different bus options available.
For buses that run within the city of Ithaca, please visit the TCAT website for the most up to date schedules. A ride on the TCAT is $1.50 for an adult and $0.75 for children (ages 6-17) and senior citizens (age 60+). There are also other pass options for TCAT buses such as 1-day, weekly, monthly, or annual passes.
There are rental cars available at the Ithaca airport, but Ithaca also has a car-sharing program. For more information on the Ithaca car share, prices, and proper procedures, please visit the Ithaca Carshare website.
The weather can change very quickly in Ithaca and we suggest you come prepared with clothing that will allow you to wear different layers so you are always prepared. It is important to check online for up-to-date information on weather conditions in Ithaca as weather does change frequently.

- Children will love exploring the Sciencenter, Laboratory of Ornithology, Museum of the Earth, Cornell Plantations, Cayuga Nature Center, and Ithaca Children's Garden
- Community School of Music and Arts, Ithaca Talent Education, and Ithaca Ballet offer instruction in the fine and performing arts
- The History Center, Tompkins County Public Library, and the Johnson Museum of Art provide special events for young people
