Dr. Enrique de la Garza is a professor in the Graduate Program in Labor Studies at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa, in Mexico City. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from El Colegio de Mexico. Dr. De la Garza has been a Visiting Professor at universities in Rome, Italy; Warwick, England; and Berkeley, California. He is the editor of Revista Trabajo, and a former editor of the Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios del Trabajo, as well as a past president of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Sociología del Trabajo (ALAST). He is the author of over 260 articles and sixteen books and the editor of thirty-five books, including Empresas y Trabajadores en Mexico al Inicio del Siglo XXI (Fondo de Cultura Economica, 2006); Tratado Latinoamericano de Sociología (editor, 2006); and Teorias sociales y estudios del trabajo: nuevos enfoques (editor, 2006). Prof. De la Garza is the recent recipient of the prestigious National Prize in Sciences and the Arts from the Presidency of the Republic, the National Prize in Economics, a two-time recipient of the National Prize for Labor Research, and a three-time winner of the Annual Prize in Economic Research, among others.
At the ILR School, Enrique is conducting research on his topic of study, and is available to meet with faculty and students.
