Professor Tansel hopes to prove through her research that the strength of the relationship between the parent and child’s education level has declined overtime, thus increasing educational mobility. Professor Tansel has already collected data through the Statistical Institute of Turkey of over 40,000 individuals, their education, and the educational background of their parents. This set of data is unique as it is retrospective, and Professor Tansel is excited to begin her research here at ILR. During her time here, Professor Tansel wil also be completing a paper on the impact of private tutoring on academic performance in Turkey and a report on the labor market in Turkey.
Professor Tansel’s publications appeared in journals such as Career Development International, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Development Economics, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Applied Economics and Public Choice.
