Spring 2007 International Experience Grants Recipients

ILR International Programs is pleased to announce recipients of our Spring 2007 International Experience Grants. Congratulations! We look forward to sharing the students' reports and photos describing their international projects when they return in the Fall.

Jessica BeanJessica Bean, a third-year PhD student in Labor Economics, is researching various aspects of married women’s labor force participation in Britain in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She plans to use census records and other types of survey data to investigate trends and patterns in married women’s work and its role in the family economy, and will travel to the UK over the summer and next year in order to explore archival sources and collect data. Jade DoyleJade Doyle, ILR BS '08, is currently interning for the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Dublin, Ireland. While at my internship I will be attending meetings with social partners at the highest level of European industrial relations in both Brussels and Rome. Sharon KimSharon H. Kim, a first-year Ph.D. student in Organizational Behavior, is conducting research on entrepreneurship and the social psychology of creativity in the European context. Partnering with Professor Jacqueline Fendt of ESCP-EAP, she will explore the active participation of academic institutions in the revitalization of European entrepreneurship. Sunghoon KimSunghoon Kim, a PhD candidate, is examining how foreign-owned companies operating in China is responding to the increasing institutional pressure with regard to Gonghui-Chinese official trade union. He will visit major industrialized coastal cities of China and conduct interviews with HR managers and leaders of trade unions. (View Sunghoon's proposal and his Experience Report.)

Taria ThomasTaria Thomas, ILR BS '08, will attend the 2007 ILO Better Health and Safety for Suppliers Workshop in Toronto, Canada. She is currently working on preparing the workshop as part of her credit internship at the ILO in Geneva, Switzerland.
