Fall 2006 Grant Recipients

Satoshi Tozaki

Satoshi TozakiTozaki, MILR '07, will conduct research for an independent study this Winter break in Shanghai, China. He will collect data on on the influence of multinational companies' human resource practices on the empowerment of female workers in the local labor market of a small suburb of Shanghai. As China undergoes rapid globalization, the empowerment of women, if achieved, is a crucial step towards economic development. Tozaki will visit companies, among them General Electric, to gather his data. 

Elizabeth Zimmer

Elizabeth ZimmerZimmer, BS '07, will travel the highlands of the Andes Mountains in Peru this Winter break to act as a volunteer with Tinkuy Peru, an NGO that works with children that have been forced by poverty to work long hours in unsafe conditions. She will spend her time at one of Tinkuy Peru's orphanages teaching English and educating parents on the dangers and costs of child labor.
