U.S.-Mexico Border Trip
Students Share Their Experiences: Photos and Voices

In the school's first international field seminar for ILR undergraduates, Professor Maria Cook led a small group of students to the US-Mexico border in Spring '07 where, as Professor Cook and her students observed first-hand, all of the immigration issues are being played out daily.

Students agreed it was an educational experience that they will treasure for the rest of their lives--one that could not have been captured in the pages of a book. Our hope is to develop more international service learning and field experiences for ILR students. Hear from students, in their own words, how important this trip turned out to be to their understanding of issues around immigration and to their overall education.

"The school's award really helped me pay for this trip, as I'm sure it assisted my six fellow travelers."
