Visiting Fellow Profile
Mikael Holmqvist, Sweden
Mikael Holmqvist is an Associate Professor at the Stockholm University School of Business. He writes, "My current research project examines the organizing of the work disabled in Sweden and is funded by the Swedish Council for Work Life Research. My theoretical frame of reference is organization theory, medical sociology and sociology of deviance. My data is based on a longitudinal field study of work processes within the Swedish state-owned corporation Samhall (www.samhall.se), a company devoted to rehabilitating people with work disabilities by offering them participation in various work activities. Samhall has currently 30.000 employees, which makes Samhall one of Sweden's largest companies and the largest company worldwide with rehabilitation as the ultimate goal. I will visit the ILR during September and October and will do research in Cornell's collection on labor." His faculty sponsor at ILR is Associate Dean of Outreach Susanne Bruyère.
