Maite Tapia

Italy and Belgium

 

Maite TapiaMaite Tapia is a junior researcher at the Institute for Labour Foundation in Bologna, Italy. She holds a Master degree with distinction in Law from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and a Master degree (cum laude) in European and International organisations from the University of Parma, Italy.

At the Institute she is involved in activities of European and International policies, working on several projects for the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions:

     -  “Information reporting services at EU level”: the provision of information reports covering the three fields of observation, namely: quality of work and employment, industrial relations and restructuring at EU level (EWCO, EIRO and EMCC). 

-          “Attractive Workplaces for all: a contribution to the Lisbon Strategy at company level”: the project aims at giving a concrete illustration of how the Lisbon Strategy could be implemented at company level and how this could fit into national policy frameworks and facilitate dissemination of good practices at regional and national level;

-          The implementation of International Framework Agreements in two Italian multinational companies (MNC) (ENI Group and the Indesit Company).

-          `Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Industry: the tools used to deal with the cyclical changes in the demand`.

During her time at the the ILR School her research interests will be:

-          A comparison between industrial relations in the U.S.A. and European Industrial Relations;

-          The role of codes of conduct and International Framework Agreements in American MNCs;

-          The impact of International Framework Agreements signed in European-based MNCs in U.S. affiliates;

-          The position of the central management and American trade unions in MNCs (e.g. Whirlpool, General Motors, Ford) with regard to the social regulation of restructuring processes at transnational level;
