Julie Cloutier, M.Sc., Ph.D., is presently Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resources at the École des sciences de la gestion at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). She is spending her sabbatical (2010-2011) at ILR/Cornell.
Québec is still in the process of adjusting to recent laws requiring pay equity in the workplace, making it a fertile terrain for questions of equity, justice, and commitment in the workplace. Prof. Cloutier has investigated procedural justice in the context of pay determination, high commitment practices in the Québec public sector. She is interested in the role and impact of human resource management in the context of corporate social responsibility. She has most recently started working on the effects and conditions for success in variable compensation as well as the development process of organizational justice perceptions.
Prof. Cloutier recently completed a term of four years as Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies at the École des sciences de la gestion, where she teaches classes on compensation and research methodology. She has frequently consulted on matters relating to both pay and employment equity issues.
