Susanne Bruyère Discusses Disability Training and Policy with Leaders in Ireland

January 2 2004

Susanne Bruyere

Susanne Bruyère, director of the Employment and Disability Institute, recently traveled to Dublin, Ireland, to meet with representatives of the Service, Industrial, and Professional Trade Union (SIPTU) and the National Health Service of Ireland there to explore possible training programs for their employees working on disability issues. Bruyère also met with representatives of the National (Ireland) Equality Authority and the National Disability Authority, civil rights governmental organizations in Dublin, and the Disability Rights Commission and the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office Strategy Unit staff in London. These latter four meetings were specifically around the design and implementation of employment and disability policy at the national level, for people with disabilities. Additional information is expected soon regarding Cornell's efforts in this area in the U.S.
