Katz and Kuruvilla Present Research in Korea
ILR Professors Harry Katz and Sarosh Kuruvilla recently presented at the Asian Regional Congress of the International Industrial Relations Association (IIRA) in Seoul, Korea. This international conference, "Dynamics and Diversity of Employment Relations in the Asia-Pacific Region," was convened by the Korea Labor Institute and the Korea Industrial Relations Association.
Katz was also part of a small group of international scholars who participated in a dinner discussion about labor and employment issues with South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun at the Blue House. The discussion was facilitated by Won-Duck Lee, former President of the KLI and former ILR visiting fellow, who is now a senior policy advisor to President Roh. All the participants were attending the IIRA conference. Photo: Katz shaking hands with President Roh, center is Youngki Choi, current president of KLI.
Katz and Kuruvilla were also invited speakers at SK Corporation where they discussed U.S. public policy towards outsourcing (right).
SK vice president of HR, Tae-Jin Kim (Cornell-MILR '93), later hosted an alumni dinner attended by several Cornellians living and working in Seoul.
