Mark Rowlinson, lawyer with the United Steelworkers Union in Toronto, Canada will discuss Canadian labor law and how it is distinguishable from U.S. labor law, address current issues affecting Canadian workers and comment on the NAFTA labor side agreement cases with which he has been involved.
Natacha Thys from the International Labor Rights Fund (ILRF) will address the Alien Tort Claims Act litigation that ILRF has pursued and its effectiveness in redressing significant human rights violations against workers abroad.
Lance Compa, Cornell ILR, will critique domestic labor law and its limitations from an international law perspective as well as comment on his tenure with the NAFTA Labor Commission and NAALC cases under NAFTA.
