Finding Careers in International Labor

Benjamin Davis, AFL-CIO Solidarity Center Rep/Mexico City, will be prepared to speak about careers and jobs with the AFL-CIO Solidarity Centers (the AFL-CIO international operations arm) in Washington, DC and around the world, as well as careers/jobs in international labor in general. Ben is an attorney who moved into the international labor field after several years in the domestic labor movement and, before that, in nonprofits. He directs the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center office in Mexico City, Mexico, working with Mexican trade unions and NGO on labor organizing, education, and policy projects. Before taking on this role, Mr. Davis headed the Americas division at Solidarity Center headquarters in Washington, DC. He also serves on boards and works closely with many U.S.-based NGOs active in the international labor rights field.
Mr. Davis holds a bachelors degree from the University of Chicago, a masters degree from the University of Michigan, and a law degree from American University. He worked as a representative of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and as an attorney with a union-side labor law firm before moving into the international labor field.
