Unauthorized Migration, Securitization, and Migrant Advocacy: The View from Three Global Sites
Maria Cook will talk about her research-in-progress based on field work in three global sites: Australia, Arizona, and southern Spain. She will discuss how governments in wealthy countries address unauthorized migration through a national security lens, the consequences of this for migrants, and the particular challenges that migrant advocates face in contesting state policies framed in this way.
