ILR School and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) Create Partnership to Offer a New Student Exchange Program in Spain

 

Universitat Rovira VirgiliIn June 2013, ILR Dean Harry C. Katz and Francesc Xavier Grau Vidal, Rector, Universitat Rovira i Virgili signed a student exchange agreement with the Faculty of Business and Economics at URV.  This reciprocal agreement is part of ILR's commitment to expand international opportunities for qualified ILR undergraduate students.  Selected ILR students will be able to study at URV for one semester, or for an academic year. Fall semester dates at URV are from September 9th to December 20th, 2014.

About Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV)

URV was created by the Catalonian Parliament in 1991 and named  after Antoni Rovira i Virgili,  journalist, writer and politician actively involved in Catalonian public service.  URV's core values are  public service, social commitment and responsibility. Location

Universitat Rovira i Virgili, is located in Southern Catalonia with campuses in Tarragona and Reus, Spain.  Tarragona, which is on the Mediterranean coast,  is a center point of departure to Barcelona, London, Paris, and Rome. Reus is just eight miles inland from Tarragona.  ILR students would be based on the Bellisens campus in Reus.

Courses & Credits

It is required that students participating in the URV exchange program must have at least minimal Spanish language ability.  Students will have the option to take selected courses in English and those with approved language skills may take courses in Spanish.  All students must take at least one language course in Catalan or Spanish.

Tuition Costs

ILR students pay regular ILR tuition to Cornell University.

Other Costs

ILR exchange students are responsible for passport, visa, air fare, room and board, transportation, fees related to courses, books, and personal expenses.  Financial Aid would apply.

Who Should Apply?

ILR undergraduate students interested in expanding their academic knowledge of Spain, international business and economics may apply.

Who is Eligible?

Students must have junior or senior standing and must have completed their ILR core requirements.  Students must also be in good academic standing with the ILR School and the University, and have a 3.0 GPA by the time of departure.

Program Dates

Fall Semester: September 9 to December 20, 2014
Spring Semester:  February 3 to June 27, 2015
Exact dates to be confirmed by URV.
