On March 30th, 2006, the ILR Groat Award was presented to Martin F. Scheinman '75, MS '76. The Judge William B. Groat Award was established to honor a distinguished graduate who has demonstrated outstanding service and support to the School, and it recognizes those whose career accomplishments have been primarily within the field of industrial and labor relations.

The Alpern Award was presented to Adele Smithers-Fornaci. The Jerome Alpern award was originally established to honor a distinguished alumnus who has demonstrated outstanding service and support to the School, whose career accomplishments have been primarily outside the field of industrial and labor relations. In 2004, the Advisory Council and Alumni Association voted to amend the requirements to include friends of ILR who are not alumni of either ILR or Cornell but who have given outstanding service to the ILR School.
