Admissions Application Procedures
Application Deadlines*
- For Spring 2010 (January) Admission*: October 15, 2009
- For Fall 2010 (August) Admission:
-
- Round One: January 1, 2010 (first choice for fellowships and scholarships)
- Round Two: February 15, 2010
*Please note, MS/PhD applications are not accepted for Spring admission. All MS/PhD applications must be submitted by the first admissions round, January 1.
Applicants for Spring 2010 should hear from the admissions committee in mid to late November.
Fall 2010 applicants for Round One should hear in Early February.
Round Two applicants should hear in Early March.
During admission rounds, there are three possible decisions the admissions committee can make:
- You may be accepted into the program.
- You may be refused admission to the program.
- You may be placed on the wait list.
If you are accepted into the program and you plan to come to Cornell, you must officially accept your offer of admission through the on line application. Contact the ILR Graduate Office (ilrgradapplicant@cornell.edu) if you have questions on how to do this.
If you are placed on the wait list during round 1 of applications, you will automatically be placed in the application pool for the second deadline. If you are placed on the waitlist during round 2 of applications, we will notify you of the committee's final decision by 1 May 2009.
Placement on the waitlist means that the admissions committee would like more time to deliberate on your application. As places open up, some waitlisted applicants may be notified of an offer of admission before May 1, but all applicants, whether accepted or refused, will be notified on that date at the latest. Please see our
FAQ for more information on the waitlist and the admissions rounds, or contact our office.
Admission Deposit
Students accepted into the MILR degree program are required to pay an Admission Deposit of $750 due when they accept their offer of admission. This deposit secures the student's place in the incoming class and will be credited toward the first semester tuition bill. At this time admission deposits are payable by check or money order only. Checks should be written to The ILR School - ILR Graduate Programs, and should be sent to the following address:
ILR Graduate Programs Office
214 Ives Hall
Ithaca, NY 14853
