Alumni Profile

After graduation, I joined Citigroup because I was looking for a rotational program in HR that would provide me exposure to various areas of financial services with diverse employee populations and accelerated career development. Citigroup has a long-standing history of Cornell ILR alumni which was also a major reason for my choice. I spent the first year working in compensation for the Retail Banking business where I assisted in the design of incentive compensation plans. In my next assignment I was an HR generalist for a small population in addition to managing the Talent Review Process for our Consumer business which consisted of over 125,000 employees worldwide.
After graduating from the Management Associate Program I became a School Relationship Manager in College Relations. One of the best parts of this position was the ability to manage the relationship with the ILR and Johnson School from a recruiting and philanthropic perspective. It entailed spending more time on campus than when I was an actual student! My most recent position is the Director of Leadership Development Programs for our Commercial Business Group. I am responsible for the recruitment, career development and training, compensation and rotational management of our MBA level banking and real estate associates. I have found this role to be very fulfilling in that I have ownership in structuring and managing a training program that will provide our pipeline of future leaders for the organization.
The MILR Program was a major catalyst in launching my career in a highly complex, dynamic, and international organization. The MILR program had great classes that gave me the functional knowledge I needed and great live case projects with companies to help ground the theories from class. One of the other great benefits is the number of great people that I met during my time at Cornell, I feel lucky to have such a great network of friends working in HR at other leading companies.
