Application Process
Please apply using Cornell's online application on the Cornell Graduate School website and mail all other credentials (transcripts, recommendation letters, etc) directly to:

For the MILR (Master of Industrial and Labor Relations) Program:
- Complete the online application and statement of purpose.
- Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Submit 2 letters of recommendation from faculty members acquainted with your academic work. Online letters of recommendation are encouraged, but recommenders may mail them to the address above. Although academic references are preferred, professional recommendations are also accepted.
- Submit your current resume.
- Request GRE or GMAT and TOEFL scores be submitted by the Testing Service to Cornell. (Use institution codes 2098 for TOEFL and GRE scores and 2144 for GMAT scores). The department code for ILR is 4204.
One-year MILR students follow the same procedures. You must have completed a JD or MBA to apply for this option, but are not guaranteed admission in the 1 year program.
Applicants to the MILR/MBA program must apply separately to the ILR school for the MILR degree and to the Johnson Graduate School of Management for the MBA program. Each program will evaluate your application and admit you separately. If you are admitted to one program but not the other, you may attend the program to which you were admitted as a regular student.

For the MS/PhD Program:
- Complete the online application and statement of purpose.
- Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Submit 2 or more letters of recommendation from faculty members acquainted with your academic work. Recommenders may mail letters to the address above, or submit them on line.
- A writing sample is strongly encouraged.
- Request GRE and TOEFL scores be submitted by the Testing Service to Cornell. (Use institution codes 2098 for TOEFL and GRE scores. The department code for ILR is 4204.)
For the MPS (Master of Professional Studies) ILR Program in Ithaca:
- Complete the online application and statement of purpose.
- Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Submit 2 letters of recommendation from faculty members acquainted with your academic work. While academic recommendations are preferred, professional recommendations will also be accepted.
- Submit a copy of your current resume
- Request GRE or GMAT and TOEFL scores be submitted by the Testing Service to Cornell. (Use institution codes 2098 for GRE and TOEFL Scores and 2144 for GMAT scores. The department code for ILR is 4204.)
