GLI Attends COP 14 in Poland with US Labor Leaders - December 2008
COP 14, the "midway point" between COP 13 in Bali and the highly anticipated COP 15 in Copenhagen, took place in Poznan, Poland from December 1-12, 2008 as part of a two year process for developing a new international climate change agreement to succeed the Kyoto Protocol post 2012. More than 100 trade unionists from around the world participated at the COP and for the second year in a row, the Cornell Global Labor Institute helped to organize the participation of the US and Canadian delegates. GLI Hosts Monitoring Freedom of Association Seminar - May 15-16, 2008
On May 15-16, 2008, the Cornell ILR's Global Labor Institute and International Programs hosted its second Seminar on Monitoring Freedom of Association (FOA) Under Corporate Codes of Conduct. This seminar brought 24 top leaders from corporations, worker advocacy groups and government agencies to discuss "the thorniest area of labor standards monitoring:" freedom of association, the right to organize, and the right to collective bargaining. GLI Organized a Trade Union Delegation at COP13 in Bali - December 3-14, 2007In December 2007, 20 trade unionists from the U.S. and Canada participated in the UN’s climate change conference in Bali, Indonesia. The delegation consisted of trade union leaders from SEIU, IUE-CWA, Mineworkers, Steelworkers, Transport Workers, Boilermakers, and the AFL-CIO. Read More »
