The Global Call Center Project is a collaborative network of over 40 academic researchers in 20 countries. The focus of the project is to assess the development of the emerging call center sector in each country and to compare the management strategies and employment systems and outcomes of these enterprises within and across countries. The project began in 2004 with the collaboration of research teams in the United States and Great Britain, but quickly spread to many other countries because of the importance of call centers as a source of economic development and job creation in advanced and transitional economies alike.
Research teams now include participants from North and South America, Africa, South Asia, South East Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Eastern and Western Europe.
